"Many equipment in our school lab are useless because we don’t know how to use them. Moreover, there are many chemicals that have become unidentifiable", said one of the Basic and Advanced Laboratory Management Training participants from the MGMP Kimia (Chemistry School Subject Teachers Forum) of East Jakarta.

That kind of statement above was one of reasons that have encouraged Pudak Scientific to declare the Pudak Cinta Guru (Pudak Loves Teacher) movement in 2014. The movement is implemented by organizing trainings for teachers from all educational levels. One of the training is the Laboratory Management Training, which the basic level has been held since 2009 and the advance level was started in 2014.

The latest training of this laboratory management training was attended by 25 teachers from the MGMP Kimia - East Jakarta. The event was held for two days; May 10, 2014 was for the basic level and May 11, 2014 was for the advance level. The speakers of this training were Dr. Yunita, M.Pd. – a chemistry lecturer of UIN Bandung - and Dr. Galuh Yuliana, M.Si. - a chemistry lecturer of UPI Bandung.

After the speakers delivering the training materials in theories, the activity was continued to simulation and practice session, which include:

• Simulation of conflict management
• Simulation of storage and maintenance of the tools and materials
• Simulation of tools and materials coding
• Simulation of waste processing
• Demonstration of fire extinguisher usage
• Demonstration of burette and volumetric flask fixing
• Practice of solution making
• Practice of blood group test
• Demonstration of microscope care and maintenance
• Practice of measuring tools usage
• Practice of electricity and magnetism

"We hope that other MGMPs will follow our step in improving the knowledge competence by attending trainings like this one", said the chairman of the MGMP Kimia - East Jakarta.


Our next training will be the Science Lab. Management Training for Teachers and Lab. Assistants, which will be held on May 17, 2014. The speaker will be Dr. Hj. Yunita, M.Pd (complete schedule).
